The Festival is delighted to present this fantastic event at such a wonderful museum. Given this musical pedigree it is no surprise that The Guardian should hail her as "one of the classiest acts in British jazz singing". She joins Memphis-born pianist/composer/vocalist Charlie Wood to wow the audience with an outstanding evening of music. This exciting collaboration brings together two unique and soulful voices in a celebration of songs from classic standards to their own original work that will also be paying homage to the legendary Ray Charles and Betty Carter classic 1961 recording. Completing the group will be ex-Humphrey Lyttelton band member and award winner Karen Sharp on saxophones, Dudley Philips on bass, and Roy Dodds on drums. They come to Mill Hill hot from several major concerts both as individuals and together and are regular performers at important venues on both sides of the Atlantic. FESTIVAL CLOSING CONCERT
WITH THE BBC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PLAYERS

St. Paul’s Church, The Ridgeway, Mill Hill, NW7 1QU [MAP]

We are honoured to play host to this very special evening of chamber music at this lovely church on Mill Hill’s The Ridgeway. Tonight’s performance by members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra string section and bass player from the BBC Philharmonia, is led by Stephen Bryant who is leader of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Stephen has led most British orchestras including the London Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House (Covent Garden) and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. You may also recognise pianist Elizabeth Burley as the official accompanist of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. The evening will include Schubert’s much-loved ’Trout’ Quintet. Composed in five movements, the ’Trout’ is unusual in being scored for a double bass in place of the expected second violin. Graham Mitchell, the bass player, recently recorded the ’Trout’ Quintet with the Leopold String Trio which is currently being played on Classic FM. Later the ensemble will play Dvorák’s distinctive, lively and evocative string quartet No 12 in F Major also known as the "American" String Quartet.
